Dr. Look and Dr. Evans are well trained and experienced in outpatient anesthesia. Depending on your wishes and the requirements of the procedure, we offer different methods of anesthesia to help make you comfortable.
- Local anesthesia ("Novocaine"): This is done to make the area where we are working "numb." There should be no pain. Most oral surgery can be done with this type of anesthetic.
- Nitrous Oxide ("laughing gas"): A small mask is placed over your nose to deliver a gas that helps to relieve mild anxiety. Local anesthetic is also given.
- Intravenous sedation and general anesthesia: A small intravenous catheter is placed and medications are given that will make you relaxed or asleep depending on your needs. This technique works very well for the majority of our procedures and is an excellent choice for more involved procedures and for those patients who are nervous.
- Hospital care: For those times when the procedure is too involved or for when our patient's health will not allow office care. We are able to perform most of our procedures in the operating room at our local hospitals.
